Disaster Hospital is one of the specialized research centers of Mashhad University of Medical Sciences in the field of injuries and traumas in the country that responds to patients referring to Iran and abroad. The relief operation of the Emdad Hospital was started by the Milk and Sun Population (Red Crescent) in the first half of the 40's with an area of about 2,500 square meters and an area of approximately 17,000 square meters and was put into operation on August 25, 1345. Of course, the construction of some of the hospital's biotates, such as the handicraft workshop, continued until the late 40s. The hospital was renamed after the death of the managing director of the Lions and Suns Population and until the victory of the revolution, namely the Timur Relief Hospital. Hospital Capacity and Expansion: The anticipated initial capacity for the hospital was 50 beds, with capacity gradually increasing to more than 300 active beds with the physical expansion of spaces. The first period of physical development of the project began in the first half of the 1950s and in the western part of the main and initial mass of the hospital, with a three-story building with an area of about 4000 square meters. The main purpose of the building was to open the open heart surgery department on the ground floor of the C.C.U and the related inpatient ward on the second floor, as well as concentrate the laboratories and radiology on the basement floor. Construction work on the building was completed in 1976-57 and was ready to install medical equipment. The great social and political developments and the onset of the imposed war on the one hand and the disinfection of the neurosurgical section of Imam Reza Hospital (AS) and its temporary transfer to the Relief Hospital (this temporary transfer became permanent) led to the new building as a block of neuroscience, ICU and The relevant hospitalization department should play a role. In the first half of the 1960s, there was "almost no fundamental change" in the physical expansion of hospital spaces, but in the second half of the decade, spaces such as the mosque and the second floor of the first building of the hospital were added. In 1372, the adjacent building of the hospital, with an area of about 6,000 square meters, was purchased by Jihad Construction Company and was added to the hospital grounds.
